My first real project using Maya and Autocad in conjunction with Unity came with a project from Toyota. I was tasked with creating, refining and enhancing the look of a car configurator. This means, taking the CAD Toyota model and blueprints provided, rebuilding the car from scratch, making textures and most importantly creating as realistic as possible background and environment for the configurator.
The project's goal was to be able to take various Toyota models and put them in various environments for use in dealerships. The customer would be able to change the color, the environment and see the updates in real time. This would not be possible on a standard tablet device, so we were leveraging the cloud to do the rendering in real time.
